Microdosing Cannabis During the Work Day

12 Mar, 2022Consumption

Amid a potency-obsessed market where high THC percentage marks matter, some of us prefer using cannabis-infused products in small amounts for a mild lift during our day-to-day activities.

While using cannabis at work, getting too high should be avoided since we have various tasks to accomplish and may need to interact with a team or customers. Luckily, enjoying its benefits without it getting in the way of our productivity is possible with microdosing cannabis.

What Is Microdosing Cannabis?

Simply put, microdosing involves using tiny amounts of cannabis products throughout the day to produce mild and sustained effects. For most people, microdosing cannabis offers us an alternative way to harness the benefits of weed without getting overly high.

This sub-perceptible sensation doesn't completely take over our thought process and increases productivity. However, everyone should learn what amount is appropriate for them to microdose, which will vary from person to person.

Why Microdose Cannabis At Work?

Cannabis is becoming increasingly destigmatized, presenting us with an opportunity to find more uses for it in our day-to-day lives. Incorporating its benefits at work may help us with the following.

Stress and Anxiety Relief

Current research suggests that cannabis microdosing may help relax our minds. A study by the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience noted that administering 7.5 milligrams of THC produced more significant stress-relieving effects to participants than administering 12.5 milligrams. Participants also reported that higher doses increased negative moods. This data shows that using weed in lower doses may effectively reduce stress and anxiety at our workplaces.

Pain Relief

Microdosing cannabis may also prove effective to those of us who suffer from certain conditions that impair our ability to work.

In a study published in the Journal of Pain, a group of cancer patients unresponsive to conventional painkillers were given a THC and CBD infused compound labeled Nabiximols. The compound was administered in low, medium, and high doses to measure a range of results.

According to the participants, low amounts of the substance alleviated pain, while high doses increased it. However, it is essential to note that some patients needed slightly higher cannabis dosages depending on pain intensity.

How To Microdose Cannabis At Work

1. Determine Your Ideal Dosing Regimen

Is there an optimal dosage for microdosing cannabis? A simple answer to this is it depends on the person. A variety of factors contribute to a consumer’s ideal dose, including their endocannabinoidal system, genetics, tolerance, and lier metabolism.

Although it takes some experimentation to find the right dosage, we recommend starting low and going slow. To ensure we find the right dose, self-monitoring is key as it helps keep track of the effects we feel to dial in our ideal amount versus when we may have taken a little too much.

2. Stay Composed

For some, the effects of cannabis consumption may be more noticeable to those around us, including our co-workers. While attitudes toward cannabis and its proponents are changing, some people still harbor antiquated ideas about it.

Therefore, ensure you stay composed, as some workmates may inquire about your sudden change in disposition.

3. Microdose Responsibly

The key to successfully microdosing cannabis at work is taking it slow since we are in a work environment and have jobs to do. As with any substance, it is essential that we keep our cannabis consumption at a responsible and regulated schedule by keeping tabs on how much weed we use to avoid getting too lit.

When stakes are high or important presentations are scheduled, you should avoid experimenting to prevent unmanageable effects or sensations.

Cannabis use can also come with certain side effects. Since not all of us can handle high doses of THC, getting too high at work may stimulate experiences such as panic attacks, confusion, or drowsiness.

4. Use Microdose Friendly Products

There are numerous methods available for microdosing cannabis.  Some are more effective than others since controlling the amount of THC in your endocannabinoidal system is complex.

However, each of these microdosing-specific products is designed to help us control THC dosages for each session. It is essential to note that finding the right product is a delicate process since some may stimulate little to no effect.

Microdosing is a pleasant and unique feeling whether you are a new and willing consumer or seasoned cannabis consumer. As seen above, microdosing paired with observation, responsible consumption, and patience offers us the chance to benefit from cannabis use at work without interfering with our professional lives due to intoxication.
