The world of cannabis consumption is always changing, but one thing is certain: Smoking will never truly go out of style. There’s still plenty of room for innovation, though, and that’s why we’ve partnered with ROCA to release the first cannabinoid- and terpene-infused hemp rolling papers.

Here’s why the ROCA rolling paper is going to transform your smoking experience.

  • It’s infused with up to 100mg (5 pack) 400 mg (1 pack) of cannabinoids and terpenes per paper.

  • Because it’s pre-infused, you can roll it up and smoke it as it is. You can also fill it with flower – or anything you like.

  • It has a convenient business card size, so you can store it in your wallet. Whenever you need a pick-me-up, just pull it out and enjoy.

  • It has a natural laminate coating that contains the smell and prevents the cannabinoids and terpenes from degrading.

  • It looks absolutely spectacular!

ROCA rolling papers are available exclusively at Oasis Cannabis, and Oasis VIPs had early access in advance of the full launch. If you’re not an Oasis VIP already, sign up now. VIPs enjoy amazing daily discounts, priority checkouts, free local delivery and lots of other benefits.

What Are ROCA Rolling Papers? (City Trees First- Ever Infused Hemp Rolling Papers)

ROCA rolling papers are the first-ever hemp rolling papers that are pre-infused with real cannabis extract and terpenes. Featuring up to 100mg (5 pack) 400 mg (1 pack) of active ingredients per paper, these are the first rolling papers that you can smoke with or without filling them – the choice is yours.

ROCA uses proprietary technologies to create a rolling paper with four distinct layers. Those layers are:

  • A 100-percent hemp base, which is slightly stiff for easy rolling and vented to provide a cooling effect.

  • A layer of cannabis extract, which infuses the paper with active cannabinoids.

  • A layer of terpenes, which provides the authentic flavors of your favorite cannabis strains.

  • A natural laminate coating, which contains the smell and prevents the cannabinoids and terpenes from degrading with exposure to air.

ROCA’s process is so faithful to nature that even the ink is cannabis based. You’ve simply never had a smoking experience like this before.

What Makes ROCA Rolling Papers Better?

There’s a good chance that you’ve used hemp-based rolling papers before, but you’ve never used anything quite like ROCA papers. Here’s what makes these rolling papers better than anything else on the market.

  • They have a slightly stiff texture that makes them very easy to roll – even when they’re empty.

  • The vented design allows excess heat to escape, giving the smoke a distinct coolness and smoothness.

  • They work equally well with or without a filter.

  • You can keep them in your wallet until you’re ready to use them. Thanks to the natural laminate coating, there’s no need to worry that they’ll make your wallet smell.

  • They’re the only rolling papers that you don’t need to fill. Since the paper is infused with up to 100mg (5 pack) 400 mg (1 pack) of cannabinoids and terpenes, you can simply roll the paper up and smoke it on its own. You’ll enjoy a completely authentic cannabis experience either way.

  • They burn more slowly and produce less smoke than traditional rolling papers.

  • Since the cannabis extract is applied to the papers by machine, each one delivers a precise dose. You’ll love this feature if it’s important for you to have a predictable experience every time you smoke.

What Products Will Be Available?

At launch, ROCA rolling papers will be available in two package sizes. You can buy a five-pack with a total cannabinoid/terpene content of 100 mg (20 mg per paper), or you can buy a single paper with a much larger dose of 400 mg. Both packages are available in three flavors: Blue Dream, Fruity Pebbles OG and Maui Diesel. The flavors are achieved by infusing the paper with carefully selected terpene blends. The papers taste entirely authentic on their own, and you can also use them to add an extra dimension of flavor to your favorite flower.

How to Use ROCA Rolling Papers

As we’ve discussed in this article, you can fill ROCA rolling papers with flower or smoke them on their own – the choice is yours. Here’s how to use them.

  • If you’re using a filter, lick the gum strip at the dark filter end of the paper and place the filter on the gum. Make sure that the filter is placed on the opposite side of the paper from the longer gum strip. If you’re not using a filter, skip this step.

  • Place your flower on the paper and roll the paper into a tight cylinder shape. If you’re smoking the paper on its own, you can skip adding flower and simply roll the paper into a tight spiral.

  • Lick the long gum strip and press it against the cigarette to seal it. The cigarette is now ready to smoke.

  • Hold a flame to the end of the cigarette until it lights.

  • Shake the cigarette gently or blow on it to put out the flame.

  • Enjoy your first ROCA experience.

Although traditional flower is never going to go out of style, people have increasingly turned to vaping concentrates in recent years because it offers some huge benefits. Compared to flower, concentrates are more discreet and easier to manage because the devices are tiny, and there’s less material to store. Potency is another significant benefit; puff for puff, nothing helps you reach your desired state more quickly than concentrates.

If you want to get started in the world of concentrate vaping, though, you’ve got an important choice to make: Do you want to use a vape pen with cartridges, or is a dab pen a better fit for you? Dabs and carts tend to work best in slightly different vaping scenarios, so many people ultimately end up buying both. You’ve got to choose which type of vape you’re going to buy first, though, and that’s what we’re going to help you do in this guide.

So, what’s the difference between dab pens and carts? Let’s start with the basics by describing how these two types of vapes work.

How Do Vape Pens and Dab Pens Work?

Since the differences between dabs and carts mainly come down to how the devices work, that’s where this comparison needs to begin. Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect your experience with a vape pen or dab pen to be like.

  • A vape pen uses a cartridge that’s filled with oil. You can also buy empty cartridges and fill them yourself. When you puff on your vape pen or press the fire button, the heating coil in the cartridge vaporizes a small amount of the oil. More oil absorbs into the cartridge’s wick from the reservoir, preparing the vape pen for the next puff. A vape cartridge typically delivers hundreds of puffs before running out of oil.

  • A dab pen has a heating coil that you load yourself by putting a “dab” of wax on the coil. After preheating the coil briefly to melt the wax, you can then vape by puffing on the dab pen’s mouthpiece or by holding the fire button. A dab of wax typically delivers a few large puffs of vapor. Once it’s used up, you need to add more wax if you want to continue vaping. Note that some people also refer to dab pens as wax pens, but there’s no difference between the two terms. They both refer to the same type of vape.

Dab pens and wax pens both have their pros and cons – so with those basic definitions out of the way, let’s talk about the main strengths of these types of vapes.

Vape Cartridges Are Easier to Use

Without a doubt, the biggest benefit of vape carts is that they’re extremely easy to use. You can figure out how to use a vape pen within minutes of picking one up for the first time, which is one reason why new vapers choose carts over dabs more often than not. Using a vape pen is incredibly simple – just charge the battery, attach a cartridge and enjoy. You can even find disposable vapes, which provide the same experience in a package that’s ready to go right out of the box.

Dab pens, in comparison, are fairly complicated compared to vape pens and are more prone to problems like leaking and burnt hits. A dab pen can provide an amazing experience, but you need to be prepared for a bit of a learning curve when you use one for the first time.

Vape Carts Are More Discreet and More Portable

The second-biggest benefit of vape carts is that they’re far more discreet and portable than dab pens because everything that you need is right there in a single self-contained package. A vape cart holds much more oil than anyone could possibly use in a day, so you can carry your vape pen in your pocket wherever you go and puff on it as needed. Many vape pens are extremely small to emphasize the portability aspect even further.

Compared to vape pens, dab pens generally tend to be a little larger. In addition, because you need to put more wax on the coil after a few puffs, traveling with a dab pen also means that you need to travel with a container of wax. Because of those factors, dab pens usually aren’t best for vaping on the go and are generally best suited for more leisurely vaping sessions at home.

Dab Pens Can Be More Potent

While the biggest benefits of vape pens are simplicity and portability, dab pens offer something else that’s just as compelling: incredible potency. Although oil and wax concentrates are both more potent than traditional flower, wax typically has a noticeable edge over oil in the potency department. The increased potency of wax is further enhanced by the design of dab pens, which typically have large airflow holes to let you take really big rips. Dab pens can be so intense that many people end up connecting them to bubblers or bongs, which can help to lower the heat a bit. If you want a vaping experience that gives you the highest possible potency on a puff-for-puff basis, you’ll definitely want to buy a dab pen.

Dab Pens May Cost Less Over Time

The second major benefit of dab pens is that they may cost less than vape pens over time, although this partially depends on how you use your device. If you buy vape oil in bulk and fill your own cartridges, vape pens can be quite affordable to use. That’s not what most people do with vape carts, though – people usually buy pre-filled carts or disposable vapes because they’re much more convenient. Even if you do fill your own carts, you’ll still need to replace your cartridges after refilling them a few times because the flavor quality will eventually drop.

Contrast this to the experience of using a dab pen. Like a vape cart, a dab coil will eventually lose its flavor quality due to residue buildup – but when this happens, you can simply remove the coil and soak it in rubbing alcohol for a couple of hours. The residue will dissolve, and the coil will come out tasting almost like new. Because it’s so easy to clean the non-electronic parts, a dab pen can last an incredibly long time before you’ll need to start thinking about replacing old components. In the long run, using a dab pen can potentially cost quite a bit less than buying vape carts.

Wrapping Up: Are Dabs or Carts Better for You?

It’s time to wrap things up. The decision between a vape pen and a dab pen ultimately comes down to where you stand on these things.

  • Vape pens are very easy to use, and that means they’re typically best for people who have never vaped before. A vape pen is also extremely discreet and portable, making it perfect for vaping on the go.

  • Dab pens have a bit of a learning curve, but getting past that learning curve means that you get to enjoy the most potent vaping experience possible. Dab pens are also great for economical vaping because their non-electronic components are easy to remove and clean.

You can also visit one of our partner dispensaries near you, and a friendly budtender will be glad to answer your questions.

Understanding the difference between a body high and a head high is a key component of making sure that you’re getting the right strain for your needs when you buy cannabis from a dispensary. Having a great budtender behind the counter certainly makes things easier, but it’s even more helpful if you already have an idea of what you need when you come in. We’re going to help you do that.

One of the great things about cannabis is that it can produce an almost endless variety of different experiences. People tend to loosely classify those experiences, though, in terms of feeling a “body high” or a “head high.” In this guide, we’re going to explain what those terms mean. We’re also going to help you understand some of the things that you should consider as you look for a cannabis strain or vape cartridge that can help you meet your specific goals. Let’s jump in.

Body High vs. Head High: What Do Those Terms Mean?

As you might have guessed, the terms “body high” and “head high” refer to whether the experience of using a particular strain of cannabis are felt primarily in the body or in the mind.

  • A head high tends to refer to sensations of increased creativity, sociability and adventurousness. You might want to use a cannabis strain that creates a head high, for instance, if you’re about to attend a concert or go out with your friends.

  • A body high tends to refer to sensations of relaxation, pain relief and sleepiness. The term “couch lock” refers to a body high so strong that you want to sit on the couch and doze or watch TV all day. You might want to use a cannabis strain that creates a body high if you’re planning to settle in for a day of relaxation or are about to go to sleep.

Do Sativa and Indica Strains Cause Body Highs or Head Highs?

In general, sativa cannabis strains are more known for causing head highs, whereas indica strains are usually thought of as causing body highs. This comparison, however, is muddied by the fact that most of the cannabis strains sold in dispensaries today are actually hybrids that are created by combining sativa and indica strains. It’s less common to find strains that are exclusively one or the other. You can get some information by looking for terms such as “indica dominant” or “sativa dominant,” but it’s more useful in the long run to research the specific strains themselves. We’ll discuss that as we bring this guide to a close.

What Effects Do Cannabinoids and Terpenes Have on Body Highs and Head Highs?

As we mentioned above, the fact that most modern cannabis strains are hybrids makes it difficult to understand the effects that you can expect a given strain to have based on whether it’s an indica or sativa strain. That would be an oversimplification because few strains have purely indica- or sativa-based lineages. You can get much more information by learning about the percentages and ratios of the active ingredients in the strains that interest you. That’s one reason why the cannabis products sold in dispensaries are tested by independent laboratories.

Here are the two things that you need to look for when you read the lab report for a particular cannabis strain.

Cannabinoids

Cannabinoids are the primary active ingredients in cannabis flower, and the two cannabinoids that you’ll see in most lab reports are THC and CBD. THC is the primary psychoactive compound in cannabis. It tends to cause “head high” effects at lower doses and “body high” effects at higher doses. CBD has no psychoactive effects of its own, but it can moderate the effects of THC.

Terpenes

Lab reports tend to focus on the cannabinoid content of cannabis, but terpenes – the natural compounds that occur in different ratios in various strains and give weed its wide range of scents and flavors – can have benefits as well by supporting certain effects that you want to achieve and mitigating effects that you might want to avoid.

Here are some of the terpenes that commonly occur in cannabis along with their potential benefits.

  • Linalool: Found naturally in lavender. May help to support relaxation and sleep.

  • Limonene: Found naturally in citrus oil. May provide anti-inflammatory benefits.

  • Myrcene: Found naturally in hops. May help to support stress relief.

  • Caryophyllene: Found naturally in cloves. May help to support pain relief.

What Are Some Popular Strains for Head Highs and Body Highs?

Now that you have a basic understanding of head highs, body highs and how to achieve your goals with cannabis, let’s put it all together by discussing some popular strains along with their effects.

  • Gelato: Balanced hybrid. Gelato has notes of cream and fruit, so it tends to conjure feelings of eating ice cream or sorbet. Because Gelato’s lineage is balanced between indica and sativa strains, it may leave you feeling very relaxed but still ready to do some work or produce something creative.

  • Ice Cream Cake: Indica-dominant hybrid. Ice Cream Cake has notes of vanilla and butter, which makes some people think of ice cream or frosting when they smoke it. People generally say that it produces more of a body high and makes them feel rested and ready to relax.

  • Pineapple Express: Sativa-dominant hybrid. Pineapple Express is known for its distinct pineapple-like scent and flavor. People tend to report that it produces more of a head high and makes them feel giggly, uplifted and sociable.

  • Sour Diesel: Sativa-dominant hybrid. Like all strains with “Diesel” in their names, Sour Diesel has a note that smells strongly of fuel. People have reported that this strain tends to produce noticeable anti-stress and anti-anxiety effects.

  • Tahoe OG: Indica-dominant hybrid. Tahoe OG has a noticeable lemon note, but people generally describe the overall flavor profile as being very strongly herbal or “earthy.” You might want to try Tahoe OG if you’re looking for a little help with falling asleep at night because people generally report that it leaves them feeling extremely relaxed.
